Q: What basis does the Fire District have for imposing a tax? A: Kentfield Fire District voters passed Measure H in 1980 with more than 2/3 of the voters in favor of allowing the Fire District to collect a “fire assessment” tax revenue. Also, on November 2, 2010 voters approved the Paramedic tax extensions. Q: How is the tax rate set? A: The Kentfield Fire District Board of Directors set the rates by Resolution annually. The Ross Valley Paramedic Authority sets the tax for The Paramedic Tax after approval by the Fire District Board of Directors. Q: What are the current tax rates? A: Measure H, the fire assessment rate, is up to .06 cents per square foot of structure size and/or up to $20.00 per acre of unimproved property. Many residents in Marin live within the “State Responsibility Area” or SRA. These residents will soon receive a notice in the mail from the State Board of Equalization (BOE) alerting them that a fee will be levied by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the state’s firefighting agency, for fire prevention services. The notice will advise them that they will be charged $150 for each habitable structure on their property. There are approximately 800 affected parcels within the Kentfield Fire District. Those Kentfield residents will receive a $35 reduction in the fee given that they are currently protected by the Fire District, resulting in a total fee charge of $115. Countywide, 15,285 homes will be impacted, resulting in $1.75 Million dollars leaving Marin. All of these homeowners already pay local taxes for year-round fire prevention and protection services to their local fire agency. Fire District residents will not...

Use this Vial of L.I.F.E. form to assist emergency responders with your medical care. Review at least twice a year to ensure that the information is accurate and up to date. (review it when we change to Daylight Savings Time and when we switch to Standard Time). List your medications, the dosage, and the normal time of day you take it. Be specific about your medical conditions - go ahead and write in the blank spaces on the form if you need to. For Example - if you check the Heart box in the center of the form, add in what the exact nature of the heart problem is, i.e. previous heart attack, angina, congestive heart failure, etc. Keep the vial in the door of your refrigerator on the top shelf, in front of any food items. Make it easy to find! If you have any questions regarding the...
